Miralles Tribute -Etsab A l’ Escola
During the 1994-95, 1995-96 and 1996-97 academic years, Enric Miralles directed three consecutive workshops for final-year projects at ETSAB. This exhibition recalls those years and the materials he worked with through the retrospective view of some of the students who participated in the workshops.
At that time, Enric Miralles had been teaching at this school for many years (since 1977) and had also started his activity in some international universities, such as the Städelschule in Frankfurt or Harvard University. From his beginnings as a professor at the ETSAB it is worth mentioning that he was part of the group of young teachers, led by Albert Viaplana. But it was in the framework of this trilogy of courses that he was best able to deploy his own program, based on his way of understanding learning for the architectural profession.
He was part of a group of architects who understood learning, teaching and the practice of architecture, not as a set of separate plots, but as a continuous activity where learning, teaching and designing intertwined discoveries and situations that reflected each other.
The exhibition shows as a materialization of the experience the contributions of students from these courses, four for each year, who have reworked their own material recalling their learning in the specific workshop in which they participated.
