Tribute to Miralles – FEM to be continued

Tribute to Miralles – FEM to be continued
Starts on 22/11/2024 End on 24/10/2021

Benedetta has stated that history has been very important to her since her college days. Uncovering the layers of the past provides her with the foundation on which to build the future. At the same time, it is possible to reach new and unknown frontiers, as in the case of the Spanish Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo.

EMBT is able to intertwine forms, materials, the environment and architecture, the past with the present, charting a new way forward. It will be exciting to see what the next twenty years will bring.

The exhibition MIRALLES To be continued … shows the work carried out by the architectural studio Miralles Tagliabue EMBT during the last twenty years. The same spirit of innovation and experimentation that already characterized the studio under the joint direction of Enric and Benedetta has been kept alive, in the same place and with the same name, finding new challenges and adventures every year. The last twenty years of Enric, without Enric, in the same spaces of Passatge de la Pau.

The exhibition illustrates projects that are very different from one another. Some were realized in faraway places, such as the Spanish Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo, the wooden pavilions at the Milan World Expo, subway stations with sustainable materials in Naples and Paris, public spaces for people in the port of Hamburg, and even a church and a Buddhist temple.

If the elements that define the works of Enric Miralles are earth, concrete and metal, the architecture of Benedetta Tagliabue is more aerial, light, colorful, textile; a constant research of materials associated with construction; two different ways of doing and creating intertwined, always faithful to the spirit of Enric Miralles, with the same desire to experiment, play and never stop.
